Sunday dinner

Yesterday I made my weekly journey up to Dad's house in West Palm Beach. He was in great spirits. As usual, I was exhausted and took a nap for an hour or so. He made a great pot roast for dinner. The meat melted in your mouth while the red potatoes were sooooo creamy and the carrots were...well, carrotty (lol)....of course I went home with leftovers as well as some watermelon. Oh yeah, he made a banana cream pie for desert....he even added real bananas to the banana pudding....too bad it ended up being more like banana soup pie.....for some reason, the pudding didn't set right...Dad said he was going to throw it out because it looked so bad...but when I mentioned that it still tasted good, he was quick to respond, "you're right!". Like food looking not so pretty ever stopped him from eating it. He was supposed to bring some of it to the priest at church but Dad decided it didn't look good enough for that. Poor Dad will just have to eat it all himself. I am pretty sure he already had a piece for breakfast this morning (I know him well). Anyways, I added a pic of dinner but, in hindsight, I should have gotten a picture of the pie. That would have been funny....after he cut 2 pieces out of the pie, the entire insides slid over and covered the whole pie tin....I think adding the bananas was the cause of the banana pudding avalanche....oh well, it really did taste good....

First pastel work

This is my version of a Picasso called "Three Women at the Spring"
...but a good friend of mine said it reminded him of JJ's paintings that were shown in the opening of Good Times. LOL. It is supposed to be grecian women...I don't think JJ painted those...

Why I Blog Questionnare
At the bottom of this entry I will tag three people, who should then tag three more people, and so on. You know the drill.

1. Why did you start a blog? My friend Mary introduced me to it....she also started this questionarre (so blame her for this).....

2. What did/do you hope to accomplish with your blogging? I hope to use my blog as a way to express myself and practive my writing. Even more important, I want to be able to stay in contact with friends and family.

3. Have you found that you don't post as much as you did when you started? SInce this is only my second post I don't really have an answer for this one. Although I have been checking out others' blogs to see how often they post. How do I know when I have something good to say?

4. If yes, why not? NA

5. How important are comments to you? I am finding that I love comments. It's kinda like getting mail. I have been checking my blog quite frequently to see if there are new comments posted.

6. Do you ever find yourself wishing people would not always leave comments that agree with you? Again, I am new...however, I am open to criticism as far as my artwork and poetry. As far as just plain old disagreeing with me...well, we'll see. Write a bad comment on my blog (if you dare) and we will see what my reaction is...lol.

7. Do you comment on other people's blogs a lot, sometimes, or very little? I only seem to comment on things I feel strongly about. I should probably comment more now that I have experienced how much I look forward to reading comments on my blog.

8. What determines why you don't post a comment on someone else's blog? Like I stated in the last question, if the post moves me, I post.

9. Do you have more than one blog? No.

10. Do you read random blogs either off of random blogger or friend's lists? Yes, I have checked out most of the blogs listed on Mary's blog in order to check out how the rest of the family has grown. I even checked out the Freebies for Mommies link and I don't have any children. Lately I have been checking out other blogs for info about things that interest me like science writing and art.

I now tag the following three bloggers: Ok well since the only people I know that blog are in Mary's family, I am going to have to tag them. Katie Betts-Levine, Kelsey Shaughnessy and Erin Lyle! Let's go!LOL!!

The Birth of the Blog

Well, here goes nothing. I never imagined myself as a "blogger", yet here I am writing my first post. Who'da thunk, huh? Anyways, I decided to start this blog in order to work on my writing skills as well as a way to keep in touch with the fam. I guess I should start from the beginning. I am currently a 6th year (yes, 6th year) graduate student at the University of Miami in the department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. (I know it sounds like a big deal, but it isn't...it's just what I do.) I conduct prostate cancer research and I am hoping to done with my degree sometime in the near future. Additionally, I have recently started to explore new avenues of leisure time activities including drawing, writing and crocheting ( yes, crocheting!). I will definitely be posting some of my "Adventures in Drawing" works and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Above is my first masterpiece in charcoal (whatcha think??) From time to time, I may also include some writing and , again, feedback is welcome. For the family, I will include weekly pics of Dad and me (and probably a pic of what we make for dinner just to make your mouth water...ha ha ha). Well, I hope you all enjoy my rantings ...if nothing else, I hope I can make you laugh from time to time. Check back soon for the next Adventure of JNBoogie....
